
Fingerprint equipment formerly used by the LaPorte Police Department, among other items, were donated to the museum in January.

The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum welcomed visitors from 12 Indiana counties and seven states during January 2012, including one tour group of senior citizens. The society’s vast collection of antique Valentines are now on display in the period rooms through February.

The society will host its first-ever Valentine’s Day Tea on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. in the meeting room of the museum. Cookies, finger sandwiches, etc., will be served and LaPorte County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz will give a program on the History of Valentines. Plans are being made for the annual Civil War re-enactment and the annual Old Car Show for the summer of 2012.
The museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave. in LaPorte. Its three floors include a recreated log cabin and 13 period rooms, the W.A. Jones Antique Firearms Collection, and the Kesling Automobile Collection of over 35 antique and classic cars.
