Marshall and Margaret Dittmar of 6424 N. Fail Rd., LaPorte, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 14. The couple’s children and their spouses hosted a private party at Fawn Run Farm in Rolling Prairie, residence of
daughter Marcy (Michael) Dailey. Guests traveled from as far away as Georgia and Virginia to help celebrate. A dinner of Mexican fare, provided by Colima Restaurant, was enjoyed by 60 attendees.
Margaret Trussa and Marshall Wilson Dittmar were married Aug. 12, 1950, at First Presbyterian Church in Crown Point, IN, by Rev. T.H. Adkins. Attendants were Helen Trussa Lewis, sister of the bride, and Arnold Keith Dittmar, brother of the groom.
The couple has three children: Jonathan Alan (Laurie) of Fish Lake, Dailey, and Trudy (Bruce) Hardcastle of Stafford, Virginia. They also have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Both Margaret’s and Marshall’s passion has been travel throughout their marriage. The couple has journeyed the world over — by “Space-A” through Marshall’s military connections, by commercial air travel, and even by freighter ship. They both enjoy a weekly pinochle game with friends.
Margaret is a homemaker and still enjoys baking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and arguing with her hubby of 60 years. Marshall is still a voracious reader, enjoys tinkering in the garage, and faithfully tunes in to his favorite show, “Wheel of Fortune,” every weeknight at 6 p.m. He is retired from the U.S. Army and as a management consultant. He is a member of Blue Lodge, Rolling Prairie, and Scottish Rite Masons.
