The LaPorte Family YMCA is holding registrations for its south county youth coed soccer leage, and for its fall youth coed soccer program.
South county soccer league
Register your child for the south county youth coed soccer league from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Wanatah School and at South Central School. Parents may also register their child during open hours at the YMCA front desk.
The program includes divisions for kindergarten/first grade, second/third grade and fourth/fifth grade. The kindergarten/first-grade division includes a weekly scrimmage preceded by half an hour of instruction. The second/third-grade division includes a weekly game and one weekday practice. The fourth/fifth-grade division includes a weekly game and two weekday practices.
The season starts with a skills clinic Saturday, Aug. 28, at Wanatah School. The K/1 division meets from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the 2/3 and 4/5 divisions from 10 to 11 a.m. Games begin Saturday, Sept. 11, and run through Saturday, Oct. 23. No games are scheduled for Wanatah School on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The cost is $42 per child. All players receive a YMCA soccer T-shirt and awards. The league needs coaches and referees for the upcoming season.
