LaPorte County Public Library loves babies! To honor the birth of all new little readers, the library will dedicate a picture book in the name of any newborn in our community. If you would like to have a title dedicated to your baby,
pick up a postcard at any library location. Fill out the card, which already has the necessary postage, and drop it in the mail. Simple and easy!
When the library receives the postcard, a special book will be selected at the library location nearest you and a bookplate will be placed in the front of the book displaying your baby’s name. Because we want you and your baby to be the first to borrow the book, you will be notified when it is ready to be checked out. The library will hold the book for a month to give you plenty of time to plan your visit.
While at the library, you can sign up for your baby’s first library card. The library staff is trained to help you understand how children learn to read and they are ready with suggestions for books that both of you will enjoy. Reading is a necessary skill for success in school and in life. It is never too early to start raising a reader!
