<p>He was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Lynch, KY, to Mel and Eleanor (Boggs) Cooper.</p>
<p>Mr. Cooper built and repaired electronic equipment. He also worked at Kingsley Furniture and R&amp;R Tool and Die until his retirement in 2001. Bill was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He enjoyed CB radio and spending time with his grandchildren.</p>
<p>On Nov. 5, 1959, in Jonesville, VA, he married Joan Brown, who survives.</p>
<p>Also surviving are three children, Kathy (Robert) Perschke and Larry (Nancy) Cooper, both of Michigan City, IN, and Gary Cooper of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Tara (Andrew) Morse, Erik (Leslie) Perschke and Brittany Cooper; and six great-grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Alex, Abby, Leah and Grace.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents.</p>
<p>A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Ernie Milton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Swan Lake Cemetery, Michigan City.</p>

Berry-Krcilek, 59, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 11:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family.</p>
<p>She was born Aug. 18, 1952, in Truman, Arkansas, to Edward and Mary (Nichols) Haynes.</p>
<p>Mrs. Krcilek worked for Alpha Baking in LaPorte and most recently as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Michigan City. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in New Buffalo, MI. Mary loved reading, going to the movies, and most importantly loved her family. She and her first husband, Jan K. Berry, were instrumental in changing the way people on home health care were treated and bringing home their daughter, Christine. Every year at Christmas, along with her grandchildren, she donated stuffed animals to children who were hospitalized. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.</p>
<p>On July 24, 1999, in LaPorte, she married Don W. Krcilek, who survives.</p>
<p>Also surviving are her mother, Mary Haynes of New Buffalo, MI; two children, Michele (Robert) Hickman of Hamlet, IN, and Keith (Malinda) Berry of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Kyle and Alec Hickman and Haley and Faith Berry; two sisters, Linda (Al) Edington of Westland, MI, and Vicki (Steve) Hayward of Georgetown, IL; and two brothers, Bruce (Cindy) Haynes of Finley, OH, and Danny (Debbie) Haynes of Greer, SC.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her father; her first husband, Jan K. Berry; and her daughter, Christine Berry.</p>
<p>A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at noon EST on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Bible Baptist Church, 7 East Clay St., New Buffalo, MI, with Pastor James Bouslog officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. LaPorte time on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, and from 11 a.m. to noon EST at the church. Entombment will follow services in Swan Lake Cemetery, Michigan City, IN.</p>

Colonel Franklyn R. Bonnet, 96, of LaPorte, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his home.</p>
<p>He was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Manhattan, New York City, NY, to Frank and Katharyne T. (Ronay) Bonnet. He had lived in LaPorte since 1964, coming from Centerport, Long Island, NY, via La Salle, IL. In retirement, he wintered at St. Pete Beach, FL, with his wife Alice.</p>
<p>As a certified public accountant and financial executive, Col. Bonnet was employed at General Motors Overseas Operation, Carborundum Co., General Time Corp. corporate offices, and as controller of the Westclox Division, and Fairbanks Morse. He came to the U.S. Slicing Machine Company in LaPorte, where he served as a director, secretary-treasurer and vice president of administration for the company and its subsidiaries. For many years he was listed in &#8220;Who&#8217;s Who in Finance and Industry.&#8221;</p>
<p>In 1970 with his wife Alice, they offered investment advisory and financial planning services to individuals and businesses as Bonnet &amp; Co., Investment Advisers, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. They were a team of guest lecturers and instructors at continuing education centers at the University of Notre Dame, Purdue North Central and Michigan State Northwest. They also conducted seminars in financial planning at various locations in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. As a CPA who passed the New York State examinations in 1942, Col. Bonnet added tax preparation to the services offered.</p>
<p>In World War II, he enlisted as an aviation cadet and after several transfers was assigned to the G4 Section of the Commanding General of the Central Pacific Area, which evolved into the Pacific Ocean Areas. Commissioned in the field as a 2nd lieutenant, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for distinguished services. At the end of hostilities, as a captain, he transferred to the Army Reserve, where he served the New York Ordnance District in procurement operations. In 1965, he was transferred to the Retired Reserve with the rank of lieutenant colonel.</p>
<p>Lt. Colonel Bonnet received a bachelor of business administration degree from Bernard Baruch College in New York City. He completed a number of graduate courses, qualifying for a CPA.</p>
<p>On June 29, 1941, he married Alice Botte, in Brooklyn, New York City, after a courtship that began in 1933 when they met as freshmen at Bernard Baruch College. The marriage continued until death did them part.</p>
<p>A LaPorte Chapter Kiwanian since 1966, Col. Bonnet was proud of the 33-year perfect attendance tab that hung from his Distinguished Past President&#8217;s lapel pin. He served as a member and/or officer and/or director of many organizations, including: American Legion Post 83, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reserve Officers Association, and the National Association for Uniformed Services. He was a member of the Financial Executives Institute, American Institute of CPAs, New York and Indiana State CPA Societies, National Association of Tax Preparers, Institute of Internal Auditors, South Bend Estate Planning Council, LaPorte County Personnel Managers Association, and LaPorte County Life Underwriters. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, LaPorte Senior Center, Seniors Coalition, United Seniors Association, American Red Cross, LaPorte Chamber of Commerce, LaPorte Manufacturers Association, LaPorte United Fund, Community Hospital, LaPorte Hospital Building Fund, American Field Service, People to People, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, LaPorte County Comprehensive Mental Health Center (now Swanson Center), LaPorte Neutral Zone, Citizens against Government Waste, Heritage Foundation, Indiana Sheriff&#8217;s Association, Lincoln Institute Advisory Board, Delta Beta Phi Fraternity, Bernard Baruch College Alumni Association, and University Club of Chicago, Young America&#8217;s Foundation.</p>
<p>His parents preceded him in death.</p>
<p>Surviving are his wife, Alice (Botte) Bonnet of LaPorte; one daughter, Alicia L. Bonnet of Clear Lake Oaks, CA; one son, Franklyn R. Bonnet Jr. of Miami, FL; and nieces, Alice Louise (Alexander) Kufel of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Antonia Jeanne (Thomas) Jirovsky of La Mirada, CA.</p>
<p>Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Friday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited Friday at 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Robert Bucheit officiating. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev David Kime officiating. Burial will be in Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, IN, following the Mass, where a graveside military honor service will be conducted.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Margaret Chance, 81, of New Carlisle, IN, went to her eternal rest on Jan. 31, 2012, in New Carlisle, two weeks after suffering a massive stroke.</p>
<p>She was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to Mark and Dora Agnes (Bruneau) Gelineau.</p>
<p>Margaret was a graduate of the all-girls St. David High School (1948) and Providence School of Nursing (1952) in Detroit. Margaret cared deeply about her family and friends.</p>
<p>She met her beloved husband, the late Robert “Bob” Lewis Chance Sr., through one of her nursing school classmates who was Bob’s cousin. They were married in St. David’s Church, Detroit, on Oct. 4, 1952.</p>
<p>Surviving are their four children, Janet C. (William) Hanneman of Mason, MI, Robert L. (Colleen) Chance Jr. of Rolling Prairie, IN, Julia C. (the late Brian) Gustafson of Wooster, OH, and John C. Chance of Berkley, MI; nine grandchildren, Chris Hanneman, Melissa Catherine, Hannah, Thomas and Rosemarie Chance, and Peter, Lillian and Natalie Gustafson; and four siblings, Albert H. (Dolly) Gelineau of Clinton Township, MI, Janet A. Keating of Carrollton, TX, Marie A. (the late Michael) Debano of Marysville, MI, and William M. (Ellen) Gelineau of Burnsville, MN.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Helen M. Ryskamp, John A. Gelineau and infant Thomas C. Gelineau.</p>
<p>A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the National Shrine of Little Flower Church, Royal Oak, MI, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at Sawyer Fuller Funeral Home, Berkley, MI, on Friday, Feb. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. The rosary will be recited Friday at 6 p.m. All times are Michigan times. Interment will be in Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley. A meal will be served at the Shrine Conference Center after a brief service at the cemetery on Saturday. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling local contributions.</p>

<p>He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in LaPorte to Harland R. and Rachel D. (Jones) Harvey.</p>
<p>Mr. Harvey did concrete work for over 45 years in Lake and Porter counties. He enjoyed motorcycle racing and loved old cars. Russ will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his dogs.</p>
<p>On Nov. 23, 1988, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Linda S. Kuhlmeier, who survives.</p>
<p>Also surviving are two children, Jimmy and Julie; two stepchildren, Lindal and Jessica; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene and Cinda.</p>
<p>Cremation will take place. Midwest Crematory, 678 E. Hupp Rd., LaPorte, is handling arrangements.</p>

<p>She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Darrell W. Hux, and great-grandparents, Kenneth and Lorraine Hinshaw and Billy T. and Rosemary Hux.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Theron Edwin “Ron” Koch, 60, of Melbourne Beach, FL, and formerly of LaPorte, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011.</p>
<p>He was born at Fairview Hospital, LaPorte, on March 31, 1951. In elementary school he was knows as “Terry.” He was a 1969 graduate of LaPorte High School and a 1973 graduate of Purdue University.</p>
<p>In his first career, Ron served as an announcer, newsman and fully FCC-licensed broadcast engineer while a student at Purdue’s North Central Campus. As a newsman, he earned several bylines on the Associated Press Indiana Newswire. Ron’s post-collegiate professions were to serve as components, reliability and systems engineer at a number of defense companies. He worked on designs at Radiation Inc., General Dynamics, Honeywell Marine Systems, Hughes Aircraft Company, Harris Electronic Systems, Embry-Riddle University, and A&amp;L Laboratories. During his career he lived in California, Colorado and Florida.</p>
<p>Ron enjoyed travel, ice skating, bicycling, sailing, flying, camping, ham radio (N6DLW), and Bible study. He made several trips to Europe and Israel, including a five-month stay on Kibbutz Gaaton in Galilee. He had facility in four languages.</p>
<p>He is survived by his mother, Gertrude Mary Koch of Melbourne, FL; his brothers, Thomas of Holland, MI, and Tracy (Tammy) of Muncie, IN; his sister, Gail Pegues of Muskegon, MI; and six nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, Theodore “Ted,” and one niece.</p>
<p>A graveside service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. A private family service has already taken place. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LaPorte, is handling local arrangements.</p>

Otwinowski 54, of LaPorte, died at his home on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.</p>
<p>He was born July 3, 1957, in Bialystok, Poland, to William &#8220;Ben&#8221; and Helena (Wilczewska) Otwinowski and had lived in this area since 1963, coming from Bialystok.</p>
<p>Mr. Otwinowski was a sheet metal journeyman. He was a 1975 graduate of LaPorte High School and played football for LaPorte. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 20 of Gary, IN, and shop steward for Area Sheet Metal of Hobart, IN. He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed music, golf, cooking and Chicago sports teams. He especially loved spending time with his family.</p>
<p>He was married to Kim Loucks and Melinda Ludwig, with whom he had his children.</p>
<p>He is survived by his parents; three sons, Mike (Rachel) Otwinowski of New Carlisle, IN, Steve (fiance Danielle Jeanneret) Otwinowski of Chicago and Nicholas Otwinowski of Hartford City, IN; one grandson, Lucas Otwinowski; one brother, Mark (Michaelanne) Otwinowski of LaPorte; one niece, Lindsay Otwinowski of Indianapolis; three nephews, Ben Otwinowski of Indianapolis and Andrew and Matt Otwinowski, both of LaPorte; and one sister-in-law, Shelly Otwinowski of LaPorte.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother, George Otwinowski.</p>
<p>A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery, LaPorte, following the Mass.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 506 S. Main St., South Bend, IN 46601; or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 130 Bach St., LaPorte, IN 46350.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mrs. Christine H. &#8220;Cindy&#8221; Wroblewski, 79, of LaPorte, died at 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Franciscan St. Anthony Health, Michigan City, IN.</p>
<p>She was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Royalton, KY, to John and Judy (Joseph) Howard and had lived here since 1984, coming from Hudson, FL.</p>
<p>Mrs. Wroblewski retired as a salesperson for Wildwood Carpet in LaPorte. <span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">She was a lifetime member of Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 252, South Chicago Heights, IL, and VFW Auxiliary 1130 of LaPorte.</span></p>
<p>On Oct. 21, 1952, in Chicago, she married Steve Wroblewski, who preceded her in death on April 10, 1993.</p>
<p style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Howard, and four sisters, Lucile Craft, Nora Cains, Helen Jane Tousley and Clearindea Barthel.</p>
<p>She leaves behind three brothers, Levi Howard of River Junction, MI, John David Howard of Kelley, VA, and Paul Howard of Glenburnie, MD; and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>There will be no visitation and no service. A private family burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children&#8217;s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678.</p>
