<p>   She was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Sanger, CA, to George and Magdalena (Adam) Mueller.</p>
<p>   Mrs. Surma was a homemaker and former owner of The Peacock Inn for 15 years. She had also worked at Easy Heat, New Carlisle, as an inspector. She was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, God&#8217;s Golden Agers Association, God&#8217;s Golden Warriors, Best Years Club, and Rolling Prairie Community Center.</p>
<p>   On April 18, 1931, in North Judson, IN, she married Emil R. Surma, who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1961.</p>
<p>   She was also preceded in death by her parents; son John Surma; two grandsons, Justin Surma and Brandon Surma; two sisters, Helen Kottka and Theresa Nicholas; and three brothers, John M., George F. and Edward J. Mueller.</p>
<p>   She leaves behind two sons, David (Sandra) Surma of Rolling Prairie and Ronald (DeVia) Surma of Weatherby Lake, MO; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, Jon-Paul, Amy, Shawn, Todd, and Troy Surma, and Carrie McGinty; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Clayton of Fort Myers, FL; three brothers, Alvin E. Mueller of Apple Valley, CA, Fred W. Mueller of Mesa, AZ, and Harold L. Mueller of LaPorte; and many nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>   A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m. LaPorte time at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Rolling Prairie, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. A rosary service will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memoral Gardens, Michigan City, IN, following the service.</p>

Wayne Dipert, 85, of Kingsbury, IN, died at 10:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.</p>
<p>   He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Walkerton, IN, the son of Lewis E. and Lela L. (Rough) Dipert.</p>
<p>   Mr. Dipert was general manager and co-owner of Kingsbury Locker Plant for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was co-founder of Dipert Angus in 1984. He was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church, Walkerton American Legion Post 189, LaPorte VFW 1130, North Liberty Masonic Lodge 266 F&amp;AM, Orak Shrine, South Bend Scottish Rite, Walkerton Historical Society, and Senior Bowling League. He was a LaPorte County Fair Association Board director, a Washington Township Advisory Board member, a LaPorte Hospital volunteer, and a Kingsbury Cemetery sexton. Mr. Dipert was a World War II veteran who served in the Western Pacific (Phillippines), receiving five decorations including the Phillippine Liberation.</p>
<p>   On May 29, 1968, in Union Mills, IN, he married Nancy E. Wilson, who survives.</p>
<p>   Also surviving are daughters Janice L. (Robert) Morrison of LaGrange, GA, Clarice (Brad) Lubs of Newalla, OK, Sue E. Zobrist of Indianapolis, and Myrna L. Dipert of Walkerton; son Daniel W. (Darla) Dipert of Walkerton; three grandsons, Wayne R., Jason and Jeremy Morrison of South Bend, IN.; and sisters Velma Shores of Walkerton and June (Robert) Holt of New Haven, IN.</p>
<p>   He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.</p>
<p>   A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Tracy United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Coolman officiating. Interment will follow in Kingsbury Cemetery with full military honors. Friends will be received on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, and on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. A Masonic memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>   Mr. Leonard T. Rogozinski, 77, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 8:36 p.m. at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, IN.</p>
<p>   He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Chicago to Bruno and Jennie (Jakubowski) Rogozinski.</p>
<p>   Mr. Rogozinski was a retired Chicago police officer, having served for 32 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Illinois Police Association, City of Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, and St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and sports.</p>
<p>   On June 15, 1957, in Chicago, he married Vivian A. Przybylski, who survives.</p>
<p>   Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (Joe) Dabrowski of Yorba Linda, CA; one son, Leonard (Leslie) Rogozinski of Vista, CA; three grandchildren, Kimberly Dabrowski and Nicholas and Daniel Rogozinski; one sister, Frances Sikora of Armstrong Creek, WI; and one nephew, George Hylaszek of Lockport, IL.</p>
<p>   He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Harriet Hylaszek.</p>
<p>   A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Rolling Prairie, with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. Visitation will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.</p>
<p>   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor&#8217;s choice.</p>

<p>   He was born June 22, 1949, in Harriman, TN, to Floyd Harrison and Carrie Lee McKinney Barger.</p>
<p>   Dennis was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and Korea in the Ist Cavalry. He had worked at the Indiana State Prison for 34 1/2 years as a guard and transport officer. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans 23 and VFW 1130, was sergeant at arms for American Legion Post 83, and also belonged to the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Association, Polish Falcons, Legion Riders, 40&amp;8, Moose Lodge, PRCU, Wednesday Pool League, and Thursday Senior Pool League of the American Legion. He was a Cubs, Michigan, Denver Broncos and Jimmy Johnson No. 48 fan. He will be missed by his dogs; Kari, Rowdy, Peaches and Ginger Snap.</p>
<p>   He was married to Carol Welch in LaPorte on June 16, 1973; she survives.</p>
<p>   Also surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Barger Jr. of LaPorte and Mike (Amy) Barger of Michigan City, IN; five grandchildren, Austin A. Barger of LaPorte, Dennis E. Barger III and Owen F. Barger of Michigan City, and A.J. and Kyle Caddo of Michigan City; three sisters, Brenda (Dennis) Metcalf of LaPorte, Elizabeth (Sam) Sellers of Hawkinsville, GA, and Mary (Jeff) Gifford of Westville, IN; one brother, Steve W. Barger Sr. of Clearwater, FL; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.</p>
<p>   He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Barger and son Christopher Lee Barger.</p>
<p>   A Celebration of Life Veteran&#8217;s Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at VFW 1130, 181 McClung Rd., LaPorte. Flag Presentation Honors will be conducted during the service with a meal to follow. Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.</p>

Keller, 87, of Michigan City, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home.</p>
<p>   He was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Mill Creek, IN, the son of Daniel W. and Mary G. (Byerley) Keller.</p>
<p>   Howard worked for Teledyne Casting Service for 29 years, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former member, past commander and life member of VFW Post 2536, and was awarded as Veteran of the Year by VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2536. He was also a former member of American Legion Post 451, Moose Lodge 980, FOP 75, Blue Lodge 83 F&amp;AM, and Orak Shrine, all of Michigan City, and Scottish Rite of South Bend, IN. He marched in many parades wtih the Orak Oriental Band. Howard was a longtime member of the Michigan City Honor Guard. He enjoyed bowling, golf and gardening.</p>
<p>   On Sept. 24, 1949, in LaPorte, he married Maxine English, who preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 1970. On July 1, 1972, in Michigan City, he married Luella Timm Keller, who survives.</p>
<p>   He is also survived by his two daughters, Diana (Harold) Eschenbrenner of Foristell, MO, and Debra (Jim) Ford of Meridian, MS; stepson Barry (Kathryn) Timm of Brownsburg, IN; eight grandchildren, Scott Eschenbrenner of O&#8217;Fallon, MO, Todd (Sarah) Eschenbrenner of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Jon Eschenbrenner of Creve Coeur, MO, Adam (Tamara) Timm of Jupiter, FL, Brian (Megan) Timm of Avon, IN, Allison Timm of Indianapolis, Kristen Timm of Knoxville, TN, and Misty (Rob) McGraw of Meridian, MS; six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Keller Eschenbrenner of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; Donovan Timm of Jupiter, FL, Addison Timm of Avon, IN, Kaden Timm of Avon, and Taylor Hollingsworth of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Alliene Renz of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Dorothy Hope of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>   Howard was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rose Kellogg, Barbara Ratliff, Helen Lewallen and Aletha Shipton; and five brothers, Gerald Keller, Leon Keller, Ray Keller, Herschel Keller and Omer Keller.</p>
<p>   The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte. A private family service will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Raschka officiating. A military service will be conducted by VFW Post 2536 and American Legion Post 451 Honor Guard of Michigan City at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>   Michael &#8220;Skully&#8221; Lindsey, 58, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.</p>
<p>   He was born July 2, 1952, in LaPorte to James &#8220;Pete&#8221; Cambron and Myrtle Lindsey.</p>
<p>   Mr. Lindsey had owned and operated Mike’s Lock &amp; Key since 1994. He began playing drums when he was 17 years old and volunteered at benefits with his band, &#8220;State Street Blues Band.&#8221; He also performed at benefits and county homes with the &#8220;Born Again Blues Band.&#8221; Mike’s musical gift will be missed by all who performed with him and those he performed for.</p>
<p>   On April 4, 1970, in LaPorte, he married Judy Barnsdale-Hutchinson Lindsey, who survives.</p>
<p>   Also surviving are his daughter, Nicole (Brian) Johnson of Hudson Lake, IN; three grandchildren, Ashley, Wendy and Brianna; brother, Myron (Sue) Lindsey of South Bend, IN; three half-sisters, Terry, Tina and Jody; and three half-brothers, Jim, Frank and Gerrel.</p>
<p>   He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.</p>
<p>   Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 4, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with John Hutchinson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following services.</p>

<p align="justify">   She was born Aug. 10, 2010, in LaPorte to Adam J. and Amanda S. (Freismuth) Kellerman, both of whom survive in Michigan City.</p>
<p align="justify">   Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Shane, Ellissa and Allie Leslie; maternal grandparents Jeff and Donna Friesmuth of Michigan City; paternal grandparents Joe (Pat) Kellerman of Michiana Shores and Sharon (Terry) Kirkham of LaPorte; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.</p>
<p align="justify">   A service will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, is handling arrangements.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>   Mr. Robert W. Ilseman, 54, of LaPorte, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 31, 2010, at his residence.</p>
<p>   He was born Feb. 21, 1956, in Hinsdale, IL, to Robert E. and Margaret L. (Carmody) Ilseman.</p>
<p>   Mr. Ilseman was a library clerk for The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He enjoyed history and jazz music and was an avid Cubs fan.</p>
<p>   On May 9, 1992, in Chicago, he married Kym Ogden, who survives.</p>
<p>   Also surviving are one sister, Mary (Keith) Godbey of Parker, CO; two stepsisters, Carol (Terry) Wentland and Ellen (Clay) Bridgewater, both of Scottsdale, AZ; one brother, Don Ilseman of Scottsdale; several nieces and nephews; and one uncle, Ray Haiduk of Scottsdale.</p>
<p>   He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Wanda Ilseman.</p>
<p>   A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Chaplain Steve Laue officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, following the service.</p>
