Innsbruck residents elect new city mayor in runoff election – Politics –

After the local council and mayoral elections on April 14, the people of Innsbruck will elect a new city leader in a second election on Sunday. The result falls between incumbent Georg Willi (Greens) and his challenger “JA – Now Innsbruck” frontrunner and former ÖVP deputy mayor Johannes Ansengruber. Polling stations will open at 7:30 AM and close at 4:00 PM. 100,564 eligible voters are invited to elect a new mayor of the Tyrolean state capital.

The Election Commission will declare the results between 6 pm and 7 pm. The results of the spraying have not been released in advance. In the first round, Willi led with 22.89 percent, while Anzengruber got 19.37 percent. The Green Party veteran has led Innsbruck since 2018. At that time he won against incumbent city councilor Christine Opitz-Flörer (for Innsbruck) and was elected the first green mayor of a state capital.
