ÖFB Cup Quarter Final | 2-1 vs Altach: Deni Alar fires Leoben into cup semi-finals with a brace

DSV Leoben surprise in the semi-finals of the ÖFB Cup. On Saturday, Styrians beat Aldach 2-1 in front of their home crowd, Deni Aller brace (10th, 88th) scoring the match winner for the Second Division team. Constantin Reiner's goal was not enough for Vorarlberg (25'). Salzburg and Sturm Kroes entered the last four on Friday, with the last semi-final to be decided on Sunday at Rapid – SKN St. Bolton.

Leoben were the third Bundesliga side eliminated this cup season after WSG Tirol and WAC, while Altach missed out on their first appearance in the cup semi-finals. The game started badly for the visitors. A corner from Leoben could not be decisively cleared, Julian Dury brought the ball sharply into the middle and Aller was in the right place.

A quarter of an hour later came Altach's reply. Mike Bahre sent a corner towards the far corner where the Leoben defense forgot about Reiner and the defender was able to head in unchallenged from close range. As a result, a game without any major highlights developed in very difficult pitch conditions.

After the break, Altach coach Joachim Standfest, a native of Leoben, brought on a second striker, Gustavo Santos. Altach turned strong, but Vesel Demaku had no more than one chance, which Leoben keeper Florian Weigele parried.

Just when it looked like everything was going to overtime, Aller struck for the second time. The striker was allowed to receive the ball unchallenged in the opposition penalty area and shot into the far corner without stopping.
