A 41-year-old woman tragically died in the northern Italian city of Pema on Sunday. The victim was riding an aerial ropes course in the Orobi Alps near Lake Como when he came loose from his harness.

A foreign woman who had been living in Italy for a long time fell from a height of about 50 meters into the forest. Media reported that it hit the ground at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

According to the “Corriere della Sera” report, the accident occurred on the FlyEmotion aerial ropes course. Assistants from the Morbegno Mountain Rescue Service and the local fire department were called.

Three theses about how the accident happened

The mechanics of the accident are currently unclear, but according to preliminary findings, the 41-year-old fell when he slipped from his seat belt. Another theory is that the woman felt uncomfortable during the trip and loosened the belt herself before she arrived. The public prosecutor’s office in the municipality of Sondrio has now ordered an autopsy.

The flight from Alfredo to Pema is less than a minute and a half, and from Pema to Alfredo only a minute. At the destination, the journey is brought to a slow and safe stop by an automatic braking system.

“The cable car opened in 2011. More than 200,000 people will have flown between the city of Pema and the city of Alfredo. We have never had an accident. With special belts, everything happens in great safety. “I am shocked and in disbelief,” said Matteo Sanguineti, CEO of Fly Emotion, “Corriere” said to
