Star Fox: Insider: Cult Series Celebrates Return on Switch 2

Star Fox was once one of the biggest, most important, and best game series on Nintendo platforms – and if you're to believe someone who's generally well-known, the franchise is now celebrating its big comeback on Switch 2!

According to a new rumor, the well-known and successful Star Fox game series may finally be getting a new installment. Accordingly, the new Star Fox could be released on Nintendo Switch 2, which will be released this year.

The Star Fox series dates back to the Super NES era, where the first part of the franchise offered a very beautiful graphical treat, which is solid in terms of gameplay. As a result, there were many successors on Nintendo consoles and protagonists such as Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi became very important characters in Nintendo Cosmos, for example Super Smash Bros.

Star Fox 64 set another high point on the Nintendo 64 and Star Fox Zero was last released on the Wii U – but that was years ago back in 2016. There is no new Star Fox game on the current Switch. But now the tide may be turning — at least According to legendary Nintendo leaker Zippo.

That leak is considered well-connected and has often hit the mark with his predictions and information; However, Zippo isn't always right, so there's a risk that this rumor might turn out to be true in the end.

But if we're assuming the best, and it really turns out according to Zippo, a new Star Fox could appear within the next twelve months. Nintendo itself is also said to be working on the game, as the Japanese last did in 1997 with Star Fox 64.

According to Zippo, the new game will be a sequel to a previous Star Fox title, not a reboot. Also: The online multiplayer area should take up a significant portion of the new game. The game is slated to release on the new Switch 2 and could be an early system seller for the new hardware. However, Zippo doesn't want to completely rule out the possibility of this being a cross-gen title, which could even be released for the current Switch.

Nintendo last filed a new Star Fox trademark in Brazil in December and the Nintendo Switch Sports source code contains some Star Fox references, underscoring the new speculation. However, this is not a guarantee that a new Star Fox is on the way and will appear relatively soon. But we can always be hopeful! We will surely keep you updated on further developments.
