Vienna – Vienna City Marathon: Details on closures and alternatives

Information on closing times and pass options can be obtained by calling the club's information hotline on 0810 120 120 (charges depend on provider).

According to the ÖAMTC, the Ringstrasse will be closed between Stadiongasse and Schottengasse from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Access/departure from the 1st and 9th arrondissements to the 2nd and 20th arrondissements is possible until 8:30 a.m. via the following bridges on the Danube Canal: Friedensbrücke, Rosaurbrücke, Agartenbrücke, Salstorbrücke.

Departures from the 1st and 9th districts towards the A23 via Franz-Josefs-Kai, Uraniastraße, Dampfschiffstraße, Weißgerber- and Erdberger Lände are possible from 11:20 am.

Access and exit to districts 7, 8, 9: It is only possible to drive on the two-carriageway in the direction of the 6th district (except for access to the Museumsquartier garage) on the section between Alser Straße and Neustiftkass. Derivatives: Burggasse (coming from the Belt): It diverts from Gardegasse towards Neustiftgasse. Local traffic from the 7th district (via Breite Gasse towards Burggasse) is routed via Museumstraße (oncoming lane) to Neustiftgasse.

Traffic on Lerchenfelder Straße leading into the city is directed to the right onto Museumstraße and on to Neustiftgasse.

Traffic on Josefstädter Straße heading into the city will be diverted to the right onto Auerspergstraße – Museumstraße and further onto Neustiftgasse.

According to ÖAMTC, parts of the 6th district and 15th district can only be reached through locks between 8:45 am and 12:55 pm. let go

Access to the center from the 3rd, 4th and 5th districts is only possible via Schwarzenbergplatz, Lothringer Straße and Karlsplatz.

ÖAMTC recommends that all drivers avoid or avoid districts within the belt and parts of the 2nd and 20th arrondissements.

Another tip from Mobility Club: Park your car the day before in a garage or public parking lot outside the affected districts/driving route.

On Sunday, the Yellow Angels will also be on a special mission to protect the marathon route with ÖAMTC vehicles. During the day, the club's e-bike breakdown assistance is operating in the city center, which can provide rapid technical emergency assistance even if it is closed.

ÖAMTC is again this year inviting visitors to the yellow fan zone at the Schubertring to join in the celebrations and cheer on the marathon participants.
